A Cappadocia Fairytale by Plane
Culture – History – Nature 12
Early morning arrival at Nevşehir Airport and meeting with our guide. The Cappadocia region is a unique geography shaped millions of years ago by the lava flows of Mount Erciyes and Mount Hasan, forming layers of tuff.
Our first stop is the Göreme Open Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We tour the rock churches, frescoes, and monastic life dating back to the 10th and 11th centuries, with a guide's explanation. Here, we better understand why Cappadocia is so important in terms of Christian history.
Then, one of the most iconic points of the region, Paşabağ (Monks Valley). The multi-headed fairy chimneys and natural formations offer a unique area for a photo break.
Afterwards, a short walk along the Kızılırmak River in Avanos, famous for its pottery tradition, and a visit to a workshop.
In the evening, check into the hotel. Turkish night available for those who wish (extra).
Accommodation in a stone boutique hotel in the Cappadocia region.
Early morning hot air balloon tour available for those who wish (extra). Balloons soaring in the sky at sunrise are one of Cappadocia's most enchanting moments.
After breakfast, we visit the Kaymaklı Underground City, built by early Christians to protect themselves from Roman oppression.
Tunnels, ventilation shafts, and living spaces shed light on Cappadocia's defensive architecture.
Then, Uçhisar Castle, one of the highest points in the region with its panoramic view. Photo stop and guide explanation.
Afterwards, a nature walk in Güvercinlik Valley. Historically, the use of pigeon manure in viticulture was of great importance to the region's economy.
Free time in the evening.
Accommodation at the same hotel.
After breakfast, we will visit Love Valley, which is notable for its natural formations. With its interestingly shaped fairy chimneys and walking trails, it is one of the most photographed spots in Cappadocia.
Then, a short walk in Ürgüp, which preserves the historical texture of the region. Free time for stone mansions, wine cellars, and shopping for local products.
