In ancient times, Hakkari was the center of the "Hubushkia" kingdom and the most strategic frontier fortress of the Urartu Empire. Protected from invasions by its rugged mountains, it has preserved the most unique architectural structures of both Christian (Nestorian) and Islamic cultures to this day.

* Salahaddin Ayyubi Airport: A welcome from among the clouds at one of Turkey's highest altitude airports.

* Hakkari Castle (Çölemerik Castle): This castle, dominating the city, is not just a defensive structure; it has been the administrative center of the region since the time of the Urartian king Argishti I. Its strategic location has controlled the passage between Mesopotamia and Anatolia for centuries. Every stone here bears witness to the Hakkari Beylik's struggle for independence.

* Meydan Madrasa (1700-1701): Built by Ibrahim Han, one of the Hakkari Beys, this madrasa represents the pinnacle of stonework in the region. Its two-story, courtyard structure and the geometric decorations on the entrance gate represent the meeting of Seljuk aesthetics with the late Ottoman period. This was not just a school, but the most important university in the region at that time.

* Historical Bazaar and Handicrafts: Every motif in Hakkari carpets (scorpion, tree of life) symbolically tells the thousand-year-old stories of the Turkmen tribes who came from Central Asia and the local people.

* Cilo (Reşko) Mountains: This mountain range, home to Turkey's second highest peak, is known for its imposing presence, preventing human settlement for thousands of years.

* Sat Glaciers and Glacial Lakes: These glaciers are "living fossils" from the last ice age (approximately 20,000 years ago). The rock paintings around the Sat Lakes contain the first artistic traces left by hunter-gatherer communities in the region thousands of years ago. Here, nature and history are intertwined; each glacial lake is a sacred water source in local legends.

* Zap Valley (Ancient Road): This valley, traversed by everyone from Alexander the Great's armies to travelers arriving in the region, consists of deep canyons carved by the Zap River, meaning "fierce water."
